Owczarski joins coverage team
Jim Owczarski, who has covered the Cincinnati Bengals the past three-plus seasons for The Cincinnati Enquirer, is the newest member of our Green Bay Packers reporting team.
Owczarski, as a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, will partner with Tom Silverstein, Pete Dougherty and Ryan Wood in covering the Packers for the Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Press-Gazette, the USA TODAY-Wisconsin network and PackersNews.com.
"Jim has an eye for stories that no one else is telling," said Mike Davis, the Journal Sentinel's Deputy Managing Editor/Sports.
"His deep reporting and sharp writing will inform and entertain readers. His analysis of the Packers will tell fans the how and why behind the team's play. He'll tell the back stories of players.
“He'll interact with fans on social media as well as in chats, podcasts and videos on JSOnline and PackersNews.com. Jim will be an excellent addition to our Packers team."
Before Cincinnati, Owczarski worked at OnMilwaukee.com and the Aurora Beacon-News and Naperville Sun in Illinois.
A graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Ill., with degrees in journalism and sociology, he has won numerous national and state sportswriting awards over the years. His feature on former Badgers and Bengals defensive lineman Tim Krumrie's battle with brain trauma was selected for the annual book compilation, The Best American Sportswriting 2018.
Owczarski is married to Michelle Rutkowski, the program director for the Milwaukee Radio Alliance’s three radio stations (WLUM, WLDB, WZTI).
You can follow him on Twitter at @JimOwczarski. His thousands of fans there will miss him in Cincinnati (and Packers fans will come to know him as a must-follow).
