Reassessing Packers’ draft pick positioning
Sunday’s win over the New York Jets all but eliminated the chances of the Green Bay Packers picking inside the top 10 of the 2019 NFL draft.
Based on Monday night’s result between the Broncos and Raiders, the Packers will go into Week 17 in possession of either the No. 13 overall pick or No. 14. If the Broncos win, the Packers will hold pick No. 13. If the Broncos lose, the Packers will hold pick No. 14.
Here’s what we do know: Regardless of what happens Monday night and in Week 17, the Packers will pick between Nos. 10 and No. 16. They can’t pick any higher or any lower.
They’ll get the 10th overall pick with a loss to the Lions and wins or ties from the Falcons, Panthers and Bengals (and possibly the Broncos, but only if they lose Monday night).
They also can’t fall any lower than No. 16 based on strength of schedule in a hypothetical tie with the Browns, who are 7-7-1.
So, at season’s end, the Packers will hold a firstround pick between Nos. 1016 and another from the Saints between Nos. 27-32.
