Paradise Revival Festival to send positive vibes

- Staff reports

PARADISE >> The four year anniversary of the Camp Fire is approaching, and an important event will take place today to help the community celebrate the rebuilding of Paradise.

Nonprofit organization Regenerating Paradise will host the Paradise Revival

Festival. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center at 6626 Skyway today. The event is free and open to the public.

World Central Kitchen provided 200,000 meals after the Camp Fire ended. The organization will come back today and cook a free spaghetti and pasta primavera meal for the community.

“There is shared history with World Central Kitchen. In our darkest hour, they were there to feed us. Food is more than just sustenance, it is full of stories, it is how we have bonded for thousands of years. The story of Paradise and World Central Kitchen is a rich one; I’m really excited to see them back in Paradise,” said Allen Myers, the event’s producer.

Paradise, Art, Theater and Culture Hub will be hosting the local theater, music and art activities for the event. There will be 25 local vendors, art activities and a youth art show.

“Understandably, many may still find this anniversary painful,” said Myers. “The Camp Fire was an undeniable moment of change. By grieving together we process our pain and create space in our lives for what is next. This festival is a new tradition, one that will acknowledge our history, our shared loss, our resiliency, and our hopeful future.”

The Paradise Revival Festival is supported by Butte Strong Fund and North Valley Community Foundation and a few others, according to a press release. Regenerating Paradise is a nonprofit organization formed after the Camp Fire.
