“Render Bender: A Collision of Artistic Wonderment” at the Center for Contemporary Arts
FAST ON THE DRAW
The Center for Contemporary Arts presents a unique, family-friendly event and fundraiser to support its visual arts program. “Render Bender: A Collision of Artistic Wonderment” is an opportunity to see dozens of artists create drawings in situ, which can then be purchased for $75 per piece. The event is on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m. and includes food and drinks, along with live music and other performances. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.
“Render Bender” is emceed by The Wonder Institute’s Linda Durham. The artists are set up at long tables, where they draw during two hourlong periods with an intermission between them. The drawings are hung on the gallery walls, are bid on during a silent auction, and can be taken home by the buyer at the end of the evening. Participating artists include David Rudolph, Frank Ettenberg, Greta Young, Rose Simpson, Tim Jag, and David O’Brien — about 50 artists in all.
The intermission features performances by Greg Butera, Wise Fool New Mexico, and the Partizani Brass Band. Local food vendors include Santa Fe Oxygen and Healing Bar, La Loncherita Salvadoreña, and Cheesemongers of Santa Fe. Tarot card readings, face painting, a chalkboard wall, and other activities are available throughout the night. CCA is at 1050 Old Pecos Trail; call 505-982-1338 for information.
