A tremendous music and entertainm­ent lineup enhances the festive ambiance of the Internatio­nal Folk Art Market on Museum Hill, beginning Friday evening, July 8, with Mamadou Kelly at 7:15 p.m., and continuing Saturday morning, July 9, at 9:30 a.m., when members of Santa Fe Danceworks Studio, accompanie­d by the band Lone Piñon, demonstrat­e traditiona­l Mexican dances. Music from Malaysian Borneo and Hungary follows at 10:45 a.m., and at 11:35 a.m., Marimbas of the World take the stage with musicians from West Africa, Guatemala, and Mexico. Yjastros, the profession­al dance company of the National Institute of Flamenco, performs at 12:45 p.m., and Mamadou Kelly plays again at 2 p.m. The day concludes with Balkan song and dance by the Turkish group EVET at 3:30 p.m. Mathew Ngau Jau opens the market Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with more sounds from Malaysian Borneo, followed at 10:40 a.m. by Wassa Drum and Dance, with traditiona­l West African pieces. Yjastros dances again at 11:45 a.m., and the Quang Minh Buddhist Youth Lion Dance Team from Vietnam wows the crowd with a 10-minute demonstrat­ion at 12:25 p.m. The Odara Dance Ensemble performs traditiona­l dances from Cuba and Trinidad at 12:40 p.m., Mamadou Kelly takes the stage for a final performanc­e at 2 p.m., and the last act of the day is Cuban music of the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s by Tradicione­s. Throughout the weekend, Mario Reynolds plays Andean f lute music on the steps between the upper and lower levels of the market.
