Mixed Media Baca Street throws a party
The positive response to last summer’s Baca Street Bash was such that the organizers decided to do it again. Participants in the second annual bash, which takes place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, include Molecule Design, Santa Fe Modern, Art.i.fact Consignment, Baca Art Projects, and other businesses and galleries in the Baca Street Art District. The event includes live entertainment, art demonstrations, special sales, and exhibitions. Axle Contemporary’s mobile art van, with its current exhibit Accidental
Photography, will be parked in front of Gray Matter Art and Artifacts (926 Baca St. #6), which currently shows artist Jay Tincher’s Skullpture Series: Beauchene and Exploded Skulls. ART.i.factory, the art space inside Art.i.fact (930-C Baca St.), shows Dispatch. For this installation, local collectives Strangers and SCUBA invited more than 90 local artists to create 3-by-6-inch tiles for a grid representing Santa Fe’s art scene. The opening receptions for Dispatch and Skullpture Series coincide with the Baca Street Bash.
In addition, Revolution Salon (933 Baca St.) hosts a live painting demonstration with artist Joshua Nader; Counter Culture Cafe (930 Baca St.) has live music on the patio; Baca Art Projects (922 Baca St.) hosts a parking lot fashion show; and Liquid Light Glass (926 Baca St. #3) presents glass-blowing demonstrations. Other attractions include art-making activities, a bonfire, games for kids, and raffles.
