Classic and contemporary: Schola Cantorum of Santa Fe

-

The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo was built in the 1880s by Antoine and Projectus Mouly, who also worked on the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe. On Friday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m., it hosts a candlelit concert by Schola Cantorum of Santa Fe. Fifteen works figure in this hourlong performance, including pieces by composers both classic (Rachmaninoff, Elgar, Poulenc, and Praetorius) and contemporary (including Michael McGlynn and Ola Gjeilo). The chapel is located at 185 Po’Pay Ave. in Ohkay Owingeh (off Route 68/291 just north of Española). This a free concert, with donations welcome.
