For the love of Berlioz: Santa Fe Symphony

Santa Fe Symphony’s principal conductor, Guillermo Figueroa, professes abiding affection for the music of Berlioz. On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m., the ensemble opens its concert at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) with that composer’s Le corsaire

Overture and concludes it with Shostakovi­ch’s Symphony No. 1. In between, violinist Alexi Kenney appears as the soloist in two works: Haydn’s Violin Concerto in C major (a product of the composer’s early years at the Esterházy Court) and Dvorˇ ák’s Romance in F minor.
