Following the Inca trail: Santa Fe Desert Chorale
On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 8 p.m., Joshua Habermann directs the Santa Fe Desert Chorale in a program of music composed or performed at the Jesuit missions of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina during the 17th and 18th centuries. Juan de Araujo and Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla are the most recognizable names among these obscure composers. An instrumental ensemble from the Caminos del Inka project assists. The concert takes place at Cristo Rey Church (1120 Canyon Road), where further performances are scheduled for Aug. 5 at 4 p.m., and Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. For information about tickets ($15-$85), consult desertchorale.org or call 505-988-2282. — J.M.K.
