Roger Arvid Anderson: Moon Doll 2007-01 (Galileo) 2007, bronze
New Concept Gallery, 610 Canyon Road, 505-795-7570 Anderson/Jackson is a pairing of the textured bronze sculptures of Roger Arvid Anderson with the tinted and toned black-andwhite photography of Steven A. Jackson. Anderson’s bronzes recall the megaliths, standing stones, and cairns of past civilizations. His abstract sculptures have a mystical, almost human presence. Jackson’s darkroom photographic process involves enhancing tones to bring out an atmospheric and sometimes otherworldly sense of place to the landscapes and architecture he photographs. The exhibition includes works in which Jackson revisits past photographic subjects that document changes over time. The reception for the show is at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7.
