Canyon Road Contemporary, 622 Canyon Road, 505-983-0433 The exhibition Contemplative Humor continues through Sunday, Sept. 9. The two-person show of works by Amanda Banker and Pat Hobaugh includes selections from Banker’s series of paintings on the the theme of gods and goddesses, in which anthropomorphic creatures, inanimate, and organic objects merge in surrealist compositions with an edge of absurdity. Hobaugh’s representational still lifes reference the transitions from analog to digital technologies, art history, and pop culture, assembled in wry juxtapositions. On Friday, Sept. 7, the gallery opens Creativity Squared, a show of glass sculpture by Doug Gillis, who integrates fabricated and organic materials into his kiln-formed wall art. The reception is at 5 p.m.
