John Beech: Painting #152 2018, oil, enamel, linen, wooden panel
Charlotte Jackson Fine Art, 554 S. Guadalupe St., 505-989-8688 Recycled everyday objects and original photography figure into many of John Beech’s inventive artistic explorations. His Kenchis series includes works made of plaster and wire over wood substructures. In Photo-Paintings, he takes his own black-and-white photographs of commonplace objects and affixes them to canvases, which he paints to call attention to the photographic images and obscure them at the same time. Works from these series, as well as from his Small Paintings, are on view in Outside the Drift. He also creates an impromptu site-specific sculptural installation during the run of the show. The opening reception is Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.
