In 2017, Sirena Huang earned first prize at the in­au­gu­ral in­stall­ment of the El­mar Oliveira In­ter­na­tional Vi­o­lin Com­pe­ti­tion, which is to be a tri­en­nial com­pe­ti­tion re­al­ized in con­junc­tion with the Lynn Univer­sity Con­ser­va­tory of Mu­sic in Boca Ra­ton, Florida, where Oliveira teaches. Also on the Lynn fac­ulty is Guillermo Figueroa, prin­ci­pal con­duc­tor of the Santa Fe Sym­phony. He will lead his orches­tra in Bar­ber’s Vi­o­lin Con­certo (fea­tur­ing Huang), Bach’s Con­certo for Two Vi­o­lins (with Huang and Oliveira), and Tchaikovsky’s Sym­phony No. 6 at 4 p.m. on Sun­day, Sept. 16, at the Len­sic Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter, 211 W.
