Pascal Pierme: Origines temporelles 9
2018, mahogany and pigments
galleryFRITZ, 540 S. Guadalupe St., 505-820-1888 Inspired by Aristotle’s use of the word hylê, an adaptation of the Greek word for wood and used to describe matter, Pascal Pierme created a body of wall-mounted sculptural works of reductive geometry. The current exhibition Hylê Forever, on view through Oct. 22, is the first solo artist show at the gallery. In describing the creative freedom he experienced while making the work, Pierme states, “I work hard every single day just to find simplicity. This new process is a marriage between organic form and kinetic geometry. Through these compositions, I am embracing the idea of doubting one’s perception.”
