IT WON’T BE JUST HALLOWEEN SKELETONS that come out to dance this week. As the weekend begins, Mercury, the sun, Venus, and Jupiter are all in stubborn Scorpio, the sign of the private investigator, encouraging introspection and investigation. Verbal Mercury then enters outspoken Sagittarius on Tuesday, which can liberate our minds. It’s a time to say it like it is, which can help open minds just before the election.

But first, the sun conjuncts Venus in Scorpio before the weekend begins and seeds a new nine-month cycle of emotions, collaborations, and creative processes. Something begins to hatch. Scorpio remembers, so be careful of others’ old scar tissues. What gets hatched may be retribution for old pains — perhaps having interesting effects on the midterm elections.

On Friday night, the moon enters verbal Gemini for a talkative, nervy, and occasionally funny weekend. Pointed Scorpionic humor can help relieve tension, but just watch who gets skewered. A competent sunSaturn conjunction on Saturday helps us work on our personal projects. We may feel more introspective early in the week under a Cancer moon. While this is good for personal work, it may be tricky in relationships. The idea of dressing up in a Halloween costume may seem ridiculous now, but our attitudes may change as the week progresses.

As Mercury enters Sagittarius on Tuesday, our minds open but also begin to wander. People speak up and skeletons come out of hiding. Halloween merrymakers bring out their flamboyant natures as the moon enters outgoing Leo. This new fire-sign freedom can add pizzazz to trick-or-treating, but avoid roving troops of overgrown scary clowns.

FRIDAY, OCT. 26: Look for clues of new emotional or creative cycles as the sun and Venus conjunct. It’s time to talk things through as the moon enters verbal Gemini. Answer emails and check phone messages as a last-minute buzz closes the workweek. A need to communicate can keep us up late tonight, even if we’re just talking to ourselves.

SATURDAY, OCT. 27: Gossip flies around noontime, then a breath of serious sanity allows us to get some work done as the sun sextiles Saturn. Tonight, we’ll want to talk and move rather than sit and watch as the moon trines active Mars.

SUNDAY, OCT. 28: Keep up the conversation this morning as Mercury conjuncts expansive Jupiter. After dinner, we need to nestle in as the moon enters Cancer and a sudden wave of introspection calls us inward.

MONDAY, OCT. 29: Feel an existential seriousness as the moon opposes Saturn, and then watch hearts soften as Venus conjuncts the sun in Scorpio. Take advantage of an opening for a deep and healing conversation tonight.

TUESDAY, OCT. 30: A heavy mood this morning can imply something we long for that will never happen, but a change is coming in the wind as the day progresses. A sudden extroversion or spark of fire brings encouragement to our souls and pizzazz to costumes as the moon enters Leo and Mercury enters Sagittarius tonight.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 31: Our creativity and a social-emotional restlessness stir as Venus opposes Uranus, then retrogrades back into Libra. We may feel more forgiving on one side and yet more driven by social justice on the other. We’ll want to speak our minds and maybe dance the night away.

THURSDAY, NOV. 1: Opinions are thick on the ground this morning. We ruminate around issues of health care and healing and debate what would actually help in a difficult situation. Tonight, a more thoughtful, if brittle, approach kicks in while the moon enters Virgo. Contact astrologer Heather Roan Robbins at roanrobbins.com.
