The Short Order
The 19th-century spirit of Julia Schuster Staab is said to be alive and well in the Staab House bar at La Posada de Santa Fe, where her face has appeared in mirrors and her figure has been spotted descending the stairs of the old mansion built by the Jewish merchant Abraham Staab in 1882. Despite the hotel’s relentless branding of her image, Julia did not show herself during a couple recent visits to Staab House and Julia’s Social Club, the new tapas bar that has been carved out of the dining room of the hotel’s restaurant. But we did have a few very good drinks and some decent snacks, though not quite for the precipitous prices. Recommended: Julia’s Manhattan, jalapeño margarita, steamed mussels, Caesar salad.
