The show features more than 50 photographs by Vaccaro, whose work has received a resurgence of interest after the premiere of the HBO Films documentary Underfire: The Untold Story of Private First Class Tony Vaccaro in 2016. As an infantryman and unofficial combat photographer, Vaccaro captured aspects of World War II in intimate detail. He went on to become a celebrated fashion and lifestyle photographer. The exhibit, which coincides with Vaccaro’s ninety-sixth birthday on Dec. 20, includes rarely seen works made by the photographer during the war.
