(AFTER ESTHER NISENTHAL KRINITZ, 1996)

Pasatiempo - - KIDS' POETRY - by Sofia Smith Age eleven, May Center for Learning

Blue water swirling gently White birds flying softly overhead like the royalty of the air Brown boat floating by the Statue of Liberty A green torch resting in Her hand Welcoming America’s hopeful all around Blue sky brighting over head Suitcases from Poland leaning expectantly The calm slapping of the waves Two women gazing out to sea like they have never seen anything as beautiful One man holding a child in arms “My dear child, this will be your America!”
