Michael Stone, Pacing (1968), Kodalith film transparency, glass, and mirror in wood frame
Obscura Gallery, 1405 Paseo de Peralta, 505-577-6708, obscuragallery.net A stellar lineup of artists ushers in the holiday season in Obscura’s latest exhibition. The show, One-of-a-Kind, consists of 30 artists from the United States, France, Cuba, and Israel, and was nearly two years in the making. The artists were invited to create either a new print edition of their photography or a new photobased work (an exception is Michael Stone’s Pacing from 1968). The show features represented artists as well as guests and includes gelatin silver work by New Mexico photographer Michael Berman; platinum palladium photography by Palo Alto, California, artist Brigitte Carnochan; photogravure by Minneapolis artist Keith Taylor; and mixed-media work by Coco Fronsac of Paris. One-of-a-Kind showcases photography — particularly antique photographic processes — as a diverse medium for creating unique prints and as a component in multimedia works. The show opens with a 5 p.m. reception on Friday, Nov. 22, and is on view through Jan. 4.
