INON BARNATAN PIANO RECITAL

Inon Barnatan—hailed by The New York Times as “one of the most admired pianists of his generation”—plays Schubert’s moody Moments musicaux and Rachmanino­ff ’s work of the same name, which takes its inspiratio­n from the Schubert collection and reveals the young composer’s legendary piano virtuosity.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 19 I 6PM NM MUSEUM OF ART THE RITE OF SPRING

This powerhouse program opens with Gilles Vonsattel and Inon Barnatan playing two works for duo pianos—debussy’s En blanc et noir and Stravinsky’s own arrangemen­t of The Rite of Spring—and it closes with Brahms’s sunny String Quintet in G Major, which marks the Festival return of violist and former Artistic Director Heiichiro Ohyama.

NM MUSEUM OF ART

RACHEL BARTON PINE VIOLIN RECITAL

Renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine plays two of Bach’s immortal Partitas for solo violin and works by Westhoff and Biber that are revelation­s of early-baroque virtuosity.

MONDAY, JULY 17 I 6PM NM MUSEUM OF ART MOZART & SCHUMANN

Violinist Cho-liang Lin, violist Yura Lee, and Cleveland Orchestra Principal Cellist Mark Kosower play Mozart’s brilliant and elegant Divertimen­to in E-flat. Pianist Inon Barnatan, violinist William Hagen, Lee, and Kosower close out the program with Schumann’s achingly Romantic Piano Quartet in E-flat.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 19 I 12 PM NM MUSEUM OF ART

PAUL APPLEBY & LAURA POE RECITAL

Paul Appleby, one of the world’s most indemand tenors, and acclaimed pianist Laura Poe perform a crown jewel of the piano-vocal repertoire: Schubert’s landmark song cycle Die schöne Müllerin (The Beautiful Miller Girl).

THURSDAY, JULY 20 I 12 PM NM MUSEUM OF ART CHASE & RAVEL

Cho-liang Lin and Mark Kosower play Ravel’s animated Sonata for Violin and Cello, and the Festival premieres a new piano quintet by the celebrated and eclectic composer Ryan Chase. Kosower opens the program with a stunning showpiece by early-20th-century composer and cello virtuoso Gaspar Cassadó.
