Feliciano wins Div. II pitchers’ duel with Mount’s Lataille
TIVERTON — Tiverton hurler Leo Feliciano outdueled Mount senior All-State lefty Alex Lataille Wednesday afternoon, as the first-place Tigers scored twice in the second inning to secure a 2-0 Division II victory.
Mount St. Charles (8-4 Division II) received a pair of hits from junior shortstop Tyler Rudek and singles from senior Colin Cannata and Josh Robert.
Tiverton (11-1 Division II) scored the only runs in would need in the second when back-toback singles and a hit batsman loaded the bases. A passed ball allowed Feliciano to score the game-winning run and a single later in the inning doubled the lead.
Feliciano scattered four hits and he struck out nine batters to earn the victory, while Lataille allowed six hits in his six innings of work.
The Mounties are back in action Friday afternoon when Westerly comes to Woonsocket.
Broncos bust Rogers
NEWPORT – Nursing a 5-3 lead, Burrillville High erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth inning to sail to an 11-3 Division III triumph over Rogers on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Quentin Dearden earned the victory after striking out nine in his four frames of work, and Cam Toti provided the mop-up duty over the final three.
The Broncos improved to 8-2 in league action, while the Vikings dropped to 3-8.
