Bris­tol County Fifes & Drums to per­form Lin­den Place Gar­dens

BRIS­TOL — Lin­den Place Mu­seum opens the Fourth of July sea­son with The Bris­tol County Fifes and Drums con­cert in the beau­ti­ful, his­toric Lin­den Place gar­dens.

The per­for­mance will take place on Thurs­day, June 8, at 6 p.m.

The Bris­tol County Fifes and Drums (BCFD) of Bris­tol, RI are the of­fi­cial field mu­sic for the Bris­tol Train of Ar­tillery. They are ded­i­cated to the preser­va­tion of an­cient mar­tial mu­sic.

The six-hole, two-piece fifes and wooden shell, rope ten­sion drums they use are rem­i­nis­cent of Rev­o­lu­tion­ary War style in­stru­ments. They ap­pear in pe­riod cos­tume and per­form to mu­sic of the 18th and 19th cen­turies, com­plete with mus­ket fire and nar­ra­tion.

An­nu­ally the group can be seen in over a dozen lo­cal pa­rades and events through­out Rhode Is­land and South­east­ern Mas­sachusetts. The high­light of their sum­mer sched­ule is their home­town 4th of July pa­rade.

Tick­ets for the con­cert are $5 for gen­eral ad­mis­sion and free Lin­den Place mem­bers. Guests are wel­come to bring a pic­nic and chairs or blan­kets. Reser­va­tions can be made by con­tact­ing Lin­den Place at 401-253- 0390.
