Ev­ery soldier in Close

Com­bat, Atomic Games’ real-time wargame, was an in­di­vid­ual. They were part of a squad, but each had their own sim­u­lated men­tal and phys­i­cal con­di­tion that changed their ef­fec­tive­ness in com­bat. In ex­treme cases, they’d be­come in­ca­pac­i­tated or fly off the han­dle. It was a fo­cused ver­sion of a wargame, in­spired by SquadLeader. While C&C and War­craft had ac­ces­si­ble in­ter­faces and units that did what they were told, CloseCom­bat was dense and full of badly-be­haved sol­diers. The se­ries per­sists, march­ing to the beat of its own drum. The up­com­ing Close Com­bat: The Bloody First will be the first in the se­ries to use 3D graph­ics.
