Thief’s ex­cel­lent map

One of the neat­est ex­am­ples of Look­ing Glass’s de­sign phi­los­o­phy is the maps Gar­rett uses. Most games would’ve pro­vided a com­plete map of icons and prompts, but that would have killed the ten­sion and made the fiction less be­liev­able. In­stead, Gar­rett’s maps are an­no­tated sketches that of­fer a vague guide, but re­tain the mys­tery that makes Thief com­pelling.
