The 400 to 450 Boy Scouts who camped out on the Wilkerson property near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 62 and Ark. Hwy. 72 found something that the property owners did not know was there. It was a hand-cut native stone marker that apparently marked the grave of a 7-year-old boy, Thomas A. Martin.
An election of officers was held during the monthly meeting of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. New officers were: president, Mrs. Pat Bienvenu; secretary, Mrs. Virgie Adcock; treasurer, Mrs. Marjorie Creekmore; and educational director, Mrs. Pansy Gastineau.
Prettiest car winners of the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby Race were: Robert Nelson, first place winner; Andy Fletcher, second place winner; and Frank Schumacher, third place winner.
A picture of the Seligman, Mo., bridge was printed as it appeared prior to the erection of the highway through that town in 1924.

Billie Jines, former publisher of the Pea Ridge Graphic Scene, wrote a third book on family genealogy. The book was entitled, “Jines/joins/joines Family Vol. 1.”
The Gateway town council moved to add on a 12- X 12-foot room to the newly purchased city hall and also discussed traffic hazards resulting from blockage of Plum Street by parked cars.
Seligman, Mo., mayor, Charles Robert Johnston, administered the oath of office to new aldermen Lyle Tatman, Earl Bolton and Joe Pedersen.
Pea Ridge Senior High Band members who won solo and ensemble awards were: Kim Hileman, Connie Moore, Deena Jump, Stacey Renfrow, Danny Prophet, Sandy Escue, Jeff Marlow, Tony Mcbride, Terri Davis, Melanie Van Hoose, Dani Dryden and Alan Fletcher.

Larry Widdifield, Pea Ridge Lions Club president-elect, announced that the 1992 Mule Jump date had been set for Oct. 3, at Pea Ridge City Park. Admission was $2.
Pea Ridge Mayor Mary Rogers read to the City Council a letter from the State Health Department giving approval of plans for a new water tower. Replacement lights for the tennis court at City Park were approved by the council.
Jennifer Jones, of Pea Ridge, daughter of Beverly Jones and Jim Jones, was selected to attend the Governor’s School at Hendrix College in Conway.

A tape recording of barking dogs highlighted the City Council meeting. Scott Bounds, a member of the Pea Ridge Planning Commission and concerned citizen, had taped his neighbor’s barking dog to demonstrate the city’s need for tougher animal control laws. Police Chief Tim Ledbetter and Mayor Jackie Crabtree said they had been reviewing dog ordinances from Bentonville and Centerton.
Avoca celebrated its new town hall and city park with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
New Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department board members elected at the annual dinner in Garfield were Jim Linstruth, David Neese and Rick Weidner.
Highway Commissioner Jonathan Barnett advised Garfield area residents to lobby their U.S. Representative if they wanted U.S. Highway 62 widened sooner.
