James ‘Jim’ Smith

James H. “Jim” Smith, 83, of Rogers, died Sept. 22, 2012, at Jamestown Nursing & Rehabilita­tion in Rogers. He was born in Knobel, Ark., on April 4, 1929, to James E. and Mabel E. (Hughey) Smith.

He worked as a general foreman for Emerson Electric for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988. He served briefly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Smith, of Rogers; children, Betty Hurd and husband, Terry, of Rogers, and Scott Smith and wife, Gladys, of Lowell; stepchildr­en, Dana Kittrell and Danny Ricketts of Pea Ridge, and Todd Webster and wife, Missy, of Rogers; grandchild­ren, Grady Hurd of Rogers, Naomi Smith of Lowell; step-grandchild­ren, Bethany Kittrell of Pea Ridge, Kristen Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Aaron Ricketts of Pea Ridge, Nick Webster of Rogers and Nathan Webster of Rogers; and five step-great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 57 years, Patricia Smith.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich in Rogers, officiated by pastors Paul Theiss and Eric Boye.

Interment will follow in Benton County Memorial Park.
