Robert Lee “Bob” Reed, 79, of Pea Ridge, died Monday Jan. 28, at the Veterans Administra­tion Medical Center in Fayettevil­le. He was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Arvonia, Kan., to Roscoe Lee Reed and Rosa Catherine Buchtel Reed.

On July 22, 1960, he married Maxine Hansen in Pea Ridge. Mr. Reed resided in Kansas and California before being inducted into the United States Army in June 1953. After serving our country he moved back to Osage County, Kan., then moved to Pea Ridge in 1959 to make his home.

He played dobro and fiddle for The Shady Grove Bluegrass Band. Many residents of Pea Ridge will remember Bob fixing their bicycles or painting their cars. He worked as a welder for McClinton Brothers for nine years, a janitor for the Benton County Sunshine School for 12 years and was a member of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Evelyn Naab, Louise McCarly and Jean Greene; a niece, Brenda Schooley; a nephew, Eugene Naab and a great-nephew, Matt Henson.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Reed of the home; a son, Rick Reed and wife, Brandi, of Corinth, Texas; a daughter, Tammy Krecklow and husband, Duane, of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Susie Henson, of Pea Ridge; five grandchild­ren; two great-grandsons; a great-granddaugh­ter; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Fayettevil­le National Cemetery with Rev. Randy Reed officiatin­g. No visita- tion.

Arrangemen­ts were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Military honors were by Rogers VFW Post No. 3031. Memorials may be made to the Robert Reed Memorial Fund in care of Sisco Funeral Home, P.O. Box 54, Pea Ridge, AR. 72751.
