Esthetician offers full range of skin-care options

- BY OLIVIA CARR

With age comes the loss of collagen fibers in the skin, causing sagging and wrinkling. Marcy Lippold, owner of Pretty Skin in Bella Vista, helps her customers fight back with a variety of modern treatments.

The first step is a DermaPrint Skin Analysis to determine skin type and identify any conditions that might be present. In developing a treatment plan, Lippold also considers how much time, energy and money a client wants to invest.

Relatively new among anti-aging treatments, therapeutic ultrasound can increase fibroblast activity, leading to younger-looking skin. However, it is not the answer for everyone.

Other treatment options used by Lippold include custom-blended products by ONLY YOURx skin-care products, which are only available from licensed professionals. Products are blended the on the spot so that the client can begin home treatments immediately.

Another popular take-home treatment is Rejuvenate, a natural alternative to Botox or cosmetic surgery. It is designed to reduce the depth of wrinkles around the eyes, instantly tighten and lift the skin, make the skin appear smoother and more uniform, and increase moisture retention of the skin around the eyes.

Lippold also teaches clients how to properly care for their skin at home.

“Just like you brush your teeth at home every day and go to the dentist periodically, it’s important to take care of your skin every day at home and visit an esthetician periodically,” she said.

In addition to skin-related services, Pretty Skin also offers feet and hand treatments, lash extensions, waxing, and lash and eyebrow tinting.

Lippold, a registered nurse in the Czech Republic for 25 years before completing her esthetician training in the late 1990s, relocated to the United States in 2001, when she opened her own spa in Illinois.

Ten years later, she moved to Bella Vista and opened Pretty Skin. She is currently looking to add a licensed massage therapist and already has a room set up. Interested massage therapists are welcome to call her.

Pretty Skin Facial and Massage is located at 3405 Bella Vista Way — one block north of the intersection of U.S. 71 and McNelly Road. Normal hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments for any day of the week can be made by calling (479) 657-2971, and Lippold will come in practically anytime to meet a client.
