Miriam Catheryn ‘Cassie’ Callison

Miriam Catheryn “Cassie” Callison, 89, of Bentonvill­e died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Innisfree Nursing and Rehabilita­tion in Rogers. She was born in Lynn, Ark., on March 30, 1924, to Bert and Ada Bell (Manuel) James.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Rogers and worked for Model Laundry and Dry Cleaners for 34 years. On Oct. 2, 1941, she married Merle Callison and they were married for 23 years before his death in 1965. Miriam enjoyed reading, computer games, spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; her parents; two sons-in-law, Hale Zander and Wayne Welker; one brother, Manuel James; three sisters, Alta Gunn, Monnie James, Margie Brown; and one grandson, Patrick Zander.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip “Sonny” Callison and wife, Beverly, of Missouri and Danny Callison of Bentonvill­e; four daughters, Merlene Dryden and husband, Bill, of Pea Ridge, Sue Welker of Missouri, Diane Bariola and husband, Tommy, of Tontitown and Shelley Frank and husband, Terry, of Rogers; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Callison of Rogers; 13 grandchild­ren: Dani Merritt, John Dryden, Michelle Basnet, Lori McKee, Susan Devore, Staci Sims, Chuck Leichner, Brande Phillips, Amanda Ball, Kristi Foster, Mandi Ridgway, Gary Goodall and Casey Callison; 35 great-grandchild­ren; three great-greatgrand­children; many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers, Ark.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 4911 W. Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, Ark.

Entombment will follow at Rogers City Cemetery in Rogers, Ark.

Lester D. Ceola

Lester D. Ceola, 79, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home in Rogers, following an extended illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Tontitown to Fred and Catherine Pianalto Ceola.

He was the husband of Leota M. Todd Ceola, was a veteran of the Airborne Rangers, avid outdoorsma­n and sportsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, scuba diving, bowling and was a competitiv­e archer sponsored by Black Widow Bows. He was always willing to help others, patient, honest and faithful to his family and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Cynthia Ceola, Shana Heffner and Wilhelmina Ceola.

Survivors include daughters, Leticia (Larry) Wilson of Fayettevil­le, Anne (Neil) Scott of Garfield; son, Kevin Ceola of Rogers; 12 grandchild­ren; five greatgrand­children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary was said at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, and a Mass of Resurrecti­on at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Rogers.

Burial followed at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Memorial gifts are suggested to a cancer charity of your choice.

Jimmy Jones

Jimmy Lee Jones, 66, of Rogers, died Sunday, May 12, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Tulsa, Okla., to James “Wimpy” Jones and Mildred Lee Williamson Jones.

He enjoyed growing herbs for the farmers market. He raced cars when he was younger and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading western books, fishing and camping at the lake. He was employed by Canadian Pacific Railroad, Browning Arms, was an owner of Jones & Associates Advertisin­g, part owner of Big Brothers Pawn, and owner of Best Pawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Jones of the home; one son, Michael Jones and wife, Laura, of Garfield; two daughters, Jennifer Jones of Bella Vista, and Julie Jones of Tulsa, Okla.; and two step-daughters, Jennifer Adams and husband, David, of Bella Vista, and Amanda Smith of Bentonvill­e.

Visitation is set from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Sisco Funeral Home, in Pea Ridge.

Graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at Ruddick Cemetery with Pastor Rick Booyer officiatin­g.

Mary Jo Ferguson Norwood

Mary Jo Ferguson Norwood, 93, died Thursday, May 9, 2013. She was born at Pattsville, Ark. (east of Hermitage) on Oct. 23, 1919, to Daniel Earl and Verda Bea Trussell Ferguson.

Her family attended Pattsville Baptist Church and she became a Christian as a teenager. She was baptized in a pond on the family farm. Her life always was a reflection of God’s love for us. Mary graduated from Hermitage High School in 1938. After graduation she enrolled in the Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock, Ark. After completing school, she went to work for Dr. Bill Hope in Fordyce, Ark. While working for Dr. Hope she met the man of her dreams, Miles Ivan Norwood. They married in the home of H. E. and Quay Trussell, April 7, 1951, in Fordyce, Ark. Mary became a devoted wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She had a fun loving, friendly spirit and “never met a stranger.”

The Norwoods moved to Rogers in June of 1959, by this time they had three children and the fourth was born shortly thereafter. She ran a day care in her home for many years and became known as “Granny” to many children in the Rogers area.

She was a member of and served the First Baptist Church, Rogers, for more than 50 years, working in the primary department and nursery for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Verta Bea Ferguson; her husband, Miles Norwood; a sister, Pauline Darling Gilliam; daughter, Noma Kay Norwood; and granddaugh­ter, Tonya Sixkiller.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita Duren and husband, Travis, of Cave Springs; sons, Thomas Wayne Norwood and wife, Joy, of Garfield, and Daniel Miles Norwood and wife, Lorrie, of Vilonia; a sister, Peggy Ruth Murrell Raymer of Little Rock; 10 grandchild­ren; 11 greatgrand­children; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. May 12, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13, at First Baptist Church (8th and Olive), officiated by the Rev. Tommy Hinson and the Rev. Tim Perkins.

Entombment followed in the Benton County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Robert Louis Stewart

Robert Louis Stewart, 75, of Garfield, died Wednesday, May 8, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1938, at Blackwell, Okla., to Vern Cornelius Stewart and Alice Heap Stewart.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and worked in the oil fields of Wyoming and Oklahoma as a tool pusher. He was a resident of the Pea Ridge area for more than 20 years.

He enjoyed going to the casinos, hunting, fishing, camping and Facebook. He loved his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Adam Stewart and Justin Wayne Stewart; two sisters, Carol Sue Cheney and Joann Pennington; and two brothers, Ronald Leroy Stewart and Ivan Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Stewart of the home; two daughters, Alice Brown and husband, John, Suzanne Gates and husband, Bill, and a daughter-in-law Annette Stewart, all of Garfield; one sister, Barbara Lee Sheets of Braman, Okla.; 11 grandchild­ren; 20 great-grandchild­ren; and his constant companion “Pepper.”

Cremation arrangemen­ts were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. No service was planned at this time.

Wanda Marie Whitlow

Wanda Marie Whitlow, 76, of Rogers, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at her home. She was born in Rogers on Aug. 25, 1936, to Bill A. Weiser and Cora Ann (Cooper) Weiser.

She helped take care of her siblings as a young girl. After getting married in 1955, she took different jobs through the years to assist with the family income while helping raise two children. Later, she worked in the shoe department at Wal-Mart in Rogers for the last 27 years.

She was devoted to her husband, Darrell, her children, Sherry and David, attending her church and as many of her grandchild­ren’s activities as possible while they grew up. It was a very common sight to see both Wanda and Darrell sitting on the sidelines of many baseball, football, basketball and soccer games of their three grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jessy Darrell Whitlow, who died Jan. 22, 2007; and a brother, Jimmy Weiser in 1993.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Lynn Moncrief and husband, David, of Little Flock; son, David Allen Whitlow of Rogers; twin siblings, Lorene Phillips and Eugene Weiser; brothers, Eddie Weiser and Roy Weiser; grandchild­ren, Jessie Tyler Moncrief, Darrell Allen Whitlow, Julie Marie Whitlow, all of Rogers; a close and dear friend, Clyde Weaver; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. May 9, 2013, at Rogers First Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at the church, officiated by Pastor Alan Johnson.

She was buried in Rogers Cemetery next to her husband.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Rogers First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 4911 W. Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, AR 72758.

Ottavio Joseph Zucca Jr.

Ottavio Joseph Zucca Jr., 90, of Pea Ridge, died May 12, 2013, in Bentonvill­e. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in San Jose, Calif., to Ottavio Joseph Zucca Sr. and Nicholena Valenti Zucca.

He was a retired lieutenant in the 305th Bombardmen­t Group, a former liquor store owner and a retail supervisor for Sears.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Kapsa Zucca of the home; his son, Ronald Zucca and wife, Becky, of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; his daughter, Michelle Stroth of Tracey, Calif.; four grandchild­ren, Stephanie Stroth of Dallas, Texas, Danniell Stroth of Tracey, Calif., and Brenna and Joseph Zucca, both of Cassville, Mo.; and two great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Monsignor David LeSieur officiatin­g.

Burial with full military honors will be in St. Vincent Cemetery.
