Charles Cole, of Garfield, was in satisfactory condition at Springdale Memorial Hospital after being burned in an electrical flash fire while working at Beaver Water District water treatment plant.

The Pea Ridge School District announced that 850 students enrolled in the district. The superintendent stated that roughly 420 students were enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade and roughly 420 students were in sixth grade through high school.
Two members of the Battlefield 4-H Club attended the State 4-H O-Rama. Clay Wagner got first place in reporting while, Ashley McCool received first place honors in the home furnishing contest.
Jim Whisenhunt and his daughter, Tanna Whisenhunt, both of Pea Ridge, opened Whisco Sheet Metal, which specializes in heating and air conditioning sales and service. Jim was said to be in charge of the manual labor while Tanna was in charge of the business aspect of the company. The business was focused on helping the Pea Ridge area.
GTE installed a new digital switch to serve its 656 prefix customers in Gateway.

Mike Harrod, Pea Ridge Blackhawk football coach, said that he had three potential starting quarterbacks. The three were Landon McGarrah, sophomore; Steven Woods, sophomore; and Cody Woodward, senior.
Crystal Tharp, sophomore at Pea Ridge High School, won a dirt bike race in Celeste, Texas, against women. She then competed in a race in Stillwater, Okla., where she placed third against all males.
The Pea Ridge graduating class of 2003 purchased planters for the school district; the planters were placed at the entrances of all the schools.
