Quilt Exhibit

Ozark Quilt Fair

Entries are still being accepted for the 36th Ozark Quilt Fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14. Quilters and quilt lovers are invited to display new and antique quilts for show and sale on the museum grounds. Cash prize Viewer’s Choice awards will be given for first, second, and third place winners in both new and antique quilt categories.

The entry deadline is Sept. 11. Entry forms are available at the museum website, shilohmuse­um.org, or by calling 750-8165. The Ozark Quilt Fair is sponsored by Arvest Bank.

History of Home Demonstrat­ion Clubs

Joyce Mendenhall, administra­tive specialist with the Washington County Extension Service, will discuss the history of Arkansas home demonstrat­ion clubs in a program entitled, “The Tomato Club Girls,” at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Cover Stories, an exhibit of quilts from the Shiloh Museum collection, opens Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. “

For this exhibit, we selected quilts that were created for a special occasion—beyond the need for an everyday bedcover,” said museum collection­s manager Carolyn Reno.

Reno also noted that all the quilts in the exhibit are being displayed for the first time. Cover Stories will be on view through March 1, 2014.

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. Wireless Society to Meet The Ozark Wireless Society will meet at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24.

PHOTO IDENTIFICA­TION GROUP

The Shiloh Museum’s Photo Identifica­tion Group will meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at the museum to continue identifyin­g people, places, and events in northwest Arkansas photos taken over the last 40 years.
