Naval hospitalma­n recruit Veletta J. Moore, daughter of Mrs. Kathleen L. Moore, Garfield, graduated from recruit training for women at the Naval Training Center in Orlando, Fla. A 1973 graduate of Pea Ridge, she was scheduled to report to Hospital Corpsman School in Great Lakes, Ill.

Six Pea Ridge football players received all-district honors. The players awarded were Curtis Snow, first team defensive end; Jordon Miser, second team offensive tackle; Danny Hickman, second team offensive center; Randy Easterling, second team quarterbac­k; Gary Brown, second team punter; Jon Brown, second team defensive end; and James Grotts, second team defensive linebacker. Snow also received honorable mention all-state honors.

The Blackhawk football team scored 110 points all season for the 1973 season. Randy Easterling led the team with scoring 28 points. The leader in defensive statistics was Jackie Ford with 102 tackles, 80 assists, four fumble recoveries, six pass intercepti­ons and one blocked punt.

There were Scotch pines being sold to be used as christmas trees for $2. People could go to farm and pick out which tree they wanted.

The Blackhawk basketball “B” team lost to Decatur 45-35 while the “A” lost 77-61. Ricky Webb had 11 points for the “B” squad and Lester Hall led the “A” team with 20 points.
