Youth Softball Registration
Pea Ridge Youth Softball League (PRYS) will hold registrations for its 2014 spring season 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Pea Ridge Middle School and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, and Saturday, Feb. 15, at First Baptist Church, Pea Ridge.
A Board of Directors meeting, open to the public, will be held following signups Feb. 15 to nominate and elect new board members and officers. PRYS will also accept applications for new coaches and volunteers on the above mentioned dates.
Registration fees are $45 per girl or $80 for two or more siblings. These fees include insurance for each girl, a team jersey, umpire/ scorekeeper and field upkeep costs. The league provides bats and practice equipment; however, each girl must provide her own glove.
The Pea Ridge Youth Softball League accepts players of all abilities and is constantly adding members to teams in the 6 and Under, 8U, 10U, 12U,14U and 16U age brackets. Girls who attend or live within the boundaries of the Pea Ridge School District are eligible to register. Approximately 100 girls participate in the league each spring.
PRYS will again partner with the Rogers Recreation Department and the Rogers Youth Softball program. All PRYS games will be played at Northwest Park or Veterans Park in Rogers and/ or Pea Ridge and teams will play in the neighborhood of 12 league games.
The first year partner- ing with the Rogers Youth Softball program proved to be a successful one, according to PRYS president Rick Johnson. The PRYS teams competed hard and enjoyed success in league games and in local and state tournaments. The league exists to instill in the girls of our community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, teamwork, respect for authority, good citizenship and the value of positive competition — all lessons the girls can carry with them through life.
PRYS is a legally registered Arkansas non-profit organization which appreciates the help of many volunteers and community sponsors. League teams are affiliated with USSSA and/ or ASA.
