Kenneth Lyle ‘Ken’ Miller

Kenneth Lyle “Ken” Miller, 69, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born July 3, 1944, in Bentonvill­e, Ark., to David Ritchie Miller Sr. and Vernie Runkles Miller.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for six years.

A longtime resident of Bentonvill­e, he attended Bentonvill­e High School and graduated from BHS in 1962. He attended college at State Teachers’ College in Conway as well.

He spent many years in retail management, working for Woolworth’s and TG&Y, living with his family in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky and Mississipp­i for several years. Miller and his family returned to Bentonvill­e to help care for his ailing parents, where he began to work for Speas Vinegar Co. in Rogers for many years to come.

He was an avid Razorback sports fan and enjoyed attending the games and watching them on television. He loved talking to and playing with his pets and his granddogs.

He loved being out in nature, enjoying Arkansas’ natural beauty and watching the wildlife.

He was a faithful member of Pea Ridge Free Will Baptist Church for 35 years, and served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 25 years. His family had formerly attended Clifty Free Will Baptist Church and Bentonvill­e Free Will Baptist Church, prior to joining the church at Pea Ridge.

He had a great sense of humor, was quick witted, thoughtful and will be remembered as a kind, dependable, gentle man who loved God and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. James Miller and David R. Miller II.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Jene Lane Miller; one son, Scott Miller and wife, Angela of Bentonvill­e; one daughter, Melodi Nivens and husband, Frank of Branson, Mo.; and one grandson, Christophe­r Nivens.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.

A celebratio­n service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Pea Ridge Free Will Baptist Church, 351 Lee Town Road, Pea Ridge, with Brother Jamey Doyle and Brother Dwayne Lane officiatin­g.

Burial will be in Ruddick Cemetery.
