Miss Dairy Princess in a competitio­n sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary.

The fifth- and sixthgrade basketball team from Garfield Elementary School was announced as the champion. Players included Blake Stines, Russell Bray, Dennis Huston, Stacy Paulsen, Jimmy Jones, Quinton Snoderly, James Jackson, Shane Blackburn and Henry Bray.

Jimmy Henson, son of Don and Alice Henson of Pea Ridge, was promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of senior airman. Henson graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1978.

Brian Easley was select- ed to attend Governor’s School for the summer. Easley, son of Ray and Sandy Easley and grandson of John and June Easley, was planning to study mathematic­s.

The Pea Ridge baseball team improved their record to 19-5 after winning the District Tournament. There was $2,367 raised at the event to help Larry Boggs, of Pea Ridge, pay for his medical bills.

Kim McKenna, principal broker and owner, announced the opening of a new real estate office in Pea Ridge. Don Barnett and Theresa Watts joined forces with McKenna to open Good Faith Realty.

A red pickup truck crashed into the home of Jason and Rebecca Bevill and then left the scene. Eye witnesses helped Police Chief Ledbetter and the police locate the juvenile driver.

The Pea Ridge Band earned 44 regional awards at the solo and ensemble event held in West Fork. They had 28 first division ratings. First division medals were awarded to students including Patricia Butler, Lisa Collins, Corky Danner, Caleb Duvall, Jesse Graham, Shawn Gutherie, Heather Guyll, Jesse Harness, Jennifer Hohn, Brandi Knowlton, Lauren Littrell and Kendra London.
