Pea Ridge Mayor Jack Musteen announced he was resigning effective at the end of the next City Council meeting because he had bought a house outside city limits. He started his elected position in 1967 and was reelected for a second fouryear term in 1970.
Maxine Morrison proposed that the city of Pea Ridge open a community library. The idea was first started by the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, where it was decided that it was a community project instead of a church project.
Robert S. Richardson assumed his new duties as pastor of the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.

Beta Alpha Sorority officers installed were Virgie Hazelton, B.J. Beeson, Mary Jane Pistole, Ruth Talburt, Pat Patterson, and Ilse Beckman.
The Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County received its official ambulance sticker and operating license from the State Health Department.
School superintendent James Carlton announce to the board that the school district would receive $820,426 for the next school year from the state. This was a $168,169 increase from the 19831984 school year because of their advancement on the new state required standards.

Gov. and Mrs. Jim Guy Tucker recognized Arkansas High School honor students at a reception at the Governor’s Mansion. Honored was Michael David, a student of Pea Ridge High School. Michael was the salutatorian of his graduating class.
The musical entertainment at the Pea Ridge Community Fair was announced and included Pea Ridge First Baptist Church Quartet, composed of Jack Patterson, Duane Ragland, Pam Easterling and Dana Jackson; War Eagle Express, bluegrass music featuring H.K. Scott; Doyle and the drifters, country/ western, and Golden Harvest, gospel.
G.W. Nesselhauf won the IBM computer that was given away as part of a drive to raise money for Pea Ridge cancer patient, Harry Boggs. Nesselhauf said he bought $15 worth of tickets for the drive.

H.K. Scott, John Escue and Keith Escue, members of the Shady Grove Blue Grass, performed at an open house at the Shady Grove schoolhouse. The regular bi-weekly music parties were still happen- ing after 40 years. Club members held the open house to celebrate the thorough cleaning and painting of the building.
The Miss Pea Ridge contestants were Ashley Nichole Martfield, Kayla Brooke Bloxham, Robin A. Rice and Heather Rene Marlow. The 54th annual fair was to begin on July 7 and the parade theme was rainbow of colors: Celebrating 40 years of Beta Alpha.
The Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County held a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for a new ambulance. The new ambulance was said to cost $76,000, but they only needed $36,000 to add to money already raised.
