Nonprofit center offers daytime fun for seniors

Summer days don’t have to be slow and humdrum for seniors, thanks to Village House.

The nonprofit adult activity center provides daytime care for anyone who isn’t comfortable staying home alone. It has offered supervised programs for participants and respite for caregivers for more than 25 years.

Each day at Village House includes a full schedule of social, educational and recreational activities. Games, music, crafts, daily exercise sessions and birthday parties are among the offerings. A home-cooked lunch, along with morning and afternoon snacks, are provided at no additional cost.

Village House has been expanding its activities for summer, adding jewelry and small woodworking projects. The center also is constantly updating its exercise program for seniors to add new balance and mobility exercises. When the weather is cooperative, visitors are treated to the occasional cookout.
