SPRING CONCERT

-

6:30 p.m. Tuesday,

May 5 PRHS gym — with orchestras, middle school bands and high school bands competing. The middle school band performed at 1:30 p.m. Friday and the high school band performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The performances were broadcast live ment in the fall, which the band did in October for the first time in the school’s history. That qualified them to earn a sweepstakes award if they receive a first division rating at the spring region concert assessment as well.

The high school band performed two tunes on stage in the Arend Arts Center on the campus of Bentonville High School: “Flight of Eagles” by Elliot Michael Story and “Distant Horizons” by Michael Sweeney. The three stage performance judges provide each band with tape recorded comments of the performance as well as filling out a sheet with scores generated from a rubric of various aspects of performing, and then they award each band a final rating based on their scores. Each band is then required to go rector Matt McCool.

The band program has been reaching new heights this year with many goals set by Hill and have enjoyed a level of success that the band has never had. Expectations for the future have been set high, the number of students enrolled in band increased greatly this year with more than 100 beginning band students, 52 middle school ning band next fall. The band directors said they are looking forward to another great year for the band next fall.
