Reading contest winners named soon

This past week at the library was as exciting as always! Work continues on our inventory and the shelves are looking a little bare. But things will be back to normal soon. Don’t hesitate to ask if there is a book you need help in locating.

We are now on our last week of our Summer Reading Program. We have had many children sign up even this last week, so our grade level and over all winners are going to be close. There has been nobody noticeably ahead this year. It is going to be thrilling to see who wins!

Just a reminder — all children who read books and turned in their log sheets will be getting a treat bag at the party. The program ends tomorrow (June 25). Our Celebration Party for the Summer Reading Program will be at 11 a.m. July 11.

I have heard many time people say “Lord’s will and the creek don’t rise” whenever they make plans to do something, and with the spring/summer we have had, I now understand just what that means. It is truly amazing how one moment it is bright and sunny and the next moment you cannot see five feet in front of you for the down-pouring rain.

We have quite a selection of books covering the topics of rain, sun, weather and clouds. So if you know of anyone who is interested in what makes a rainbow, where does the sun go at night or even what are clouds made of, you can direct them to us and we will do our best to help find the resources to answer their questions.

One of our patrons has loaned their collection of hand-carved wooden artwork as well as a few pieces of driftwood from New York City. Anybody who loves woodworking or just crafts in general will absolutely love this display. We also have some information on local trees in with all of these beautiful pieces.
