Blackhawks win two games

Take 2nd in tourney

-

The Blackhawks scored first when Cole Wright, who singled to right field, made it home on an error by the Gentry catcher in the top of the fifth.

The Pioneers responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, but Eric Handkins hit an RBI double in the sixth, brining in Chandler Tidwell, who had hit a hard ground-ball single to left at the opening of the inning.

CJ Taylor was on the mound for the Pioneers and allowed only four hits and one earned run, but the Pioneers couldn’t get it done with their bats in the league game. Taylor threw eight strike outs in just under six innings.

Gentry’s only run came in the bottom of the fifth when Ayden Smartt singled to the short stop and later made it home when Taylor hit a hard ground ball to third and made it on because of a Pea Ridge error.

Wright pitched seven innings for the Blackhawks and sent away 11 Gentry batters swinging. He allowed five hits in the game and no earned runs.
