Halloween

Valentine´s Day

Katie and Lane are best friends and have been their whole lives. Katie is 16 years old and has a boyfriend named Zane. Lane is also 16 and has a girlfriend named Leanna.

One day, Lane and Katie are talking at lunch. Lane says, ¨Leanna and I are going out tonight for dinner for Valentine´s Day. You and Zane should come with us.¨

Katie replies, ¨I would love to, but I have to see if Zane wants to go.¨

After Katie talks to Zane, she sends Lane a text message saying, ¨We’re in!¨

So the group decides to meet at Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant at 6:30.

Although Katie and Lane have been best friends forever, this is the first time that they have had a double date. Katie and Zane arrive at the restaurant first, and Zane goes to the game room while Katie goes to the bathroom to put on makeup to make herself look pretty for Zane. When Lane and Leanna arrive, Lane finds a table while Leanna goes to the bathroom to check her makeup.

After ten minutes, Zane comes out of the game room and sees Lane sitting at a table alone. He walks over and asks, ¨Where is Leanna?¨

Lane points to the bathroom door, and Zane nods his understanding. The boys sit at the table in an awkward silence waiting for the girls. Lane checks his watch several times, and finally the girls come out of the bathroom. Both boys say, ¨It’s about time. You were in there a long time!¨

The group of young people order their food and enjoy a good meal. The girls do most of the talking and realize they have a lot in common.

At the end of the meal, Zane pulls out a card for Katie. She opens it and finds a beautiful card with red roses on the front. After reading the sweet words, she stands up and gives Zane a hug.

Not to be outdone by Zane, Lane gives Leanna a red rose. Leanna is so happy to have the rose from Lane that she gives him a big hug, too.

The couples leave the restaurant and head for home. It was a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner.
