39th Ozark Quilt Fair

The 39th Ozark Quilt Fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Quilters and quilt lovers will display new and antique quilts for show and sale on the museum grounds. The quilt fair entry fee is $10 per exhibitor. Cash prize Viewer’s Choice awards will be given for first ($50), second ($35), and third ($15) place winners in both new and antique quilt categories. The entry deadline is Sept. 7. Shiloh Saturday Program for Families

The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History will explore methods of home lighting before the advent of electricit­y in a program entitled “Log Cabin Lights,” from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Participan­ts will learn how to make candles and also take a closer look at other old-time Ozark illuminati­on. The program is part of the museum’s Shiloh Saturday series for families.

Rabbit Foot Lodge

Allyn Lord, director of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, will present, “Picnics, Parties, and Pastures: A History of Rabbit Foot Lodge,” at noon Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

“Built in 1908, Rabbit Foot Lodge in Springdale is one of the best examples of Adirondack-style architectu­re in Arkansas. It was most notably home to J. William Fulbright and his family from 1936 to 1941,” said Lord. The City of Springdale purchased the property in 2014, and its 42 acres became part of J. B. Hunt Park.

Barn Party

The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History will host “Barn Party: Pluck and Play,” an acoustic jam session on the museum grounds at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23. Musicians and music lovers are invited to bring an instrument and a lawn chair and join in. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Springdale Alliance.

LifeWriter­s
