Kenneth Houston Hawes, 85, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village in Bentonvill­e. He was born May 25, 1931, to Robert Houston and Kate Jordon Hawes in Munday, Texas.

He succumbed to colon cancer after fighting it for three and a half years. He moved to Little Flock, Ark., in 1938 with his family. He was a Baptist.

Kenneth graduated from Rogers High School in 1952 and was immediatel­y drafted into the U.S Army where he served two years during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for eight months.

After coming out of the Army, Kenneth did survey out West for several years. He managed Hornor’s Tire (later called Northwest Tire Service) in Springdale for 11 years. He purchased the business in 1974, and later purchased Northwest Tire Service in Rogers. He was active in his business until 2013, when he became unable to work, due to his illness growing worse.

He met the love of his life, Ann (Annabelle) McDougal in 1957 and married her eight months later. They were married for 59 years, on Aug. 31, 2016.

Kenneth and Ann moved to Little Flock, Ark., in 1962, to the place where he was raised. He loved viewing good cattle, and they developed a good herd of Limousin Cattle. They sold their herd and land in the fall of 2004.

Kenneth was known for his big smile and his willingnes­s to help out a fellow man. He never forgot where he came from.

Survivors are his wife of the home; a son, Barry Hawes and Sherrie of Fayettevil­le; two daughters, Deborah Bilderback and Sidney, and Elizabeth Doublehead, both of Gravette; brother, Billy Hawes and Leota of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchild­ren, Brekke Autry and Derrick of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kyle Bilderback of Springdale and Dillon Doublehead of Gravette; and two great-grandchild­ren, Remington and Lou-Lou Autry.

Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at First Baptist Church, Olive Street location, Rogers.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with Dr. Wes George officiatin­g.

Burial will be at Benton County Memorial Park following the service.
