Ambassadors help to strengthen students

- AMANDA CHILDS Pea Ridge Public Schools Social worker

This October marks the 10 year anniversary of Bullying Prevention Month. National Bullying Prevention Month in October is supported by hundreds of schools, major corporations, and celebrities.

This year the goal of the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors is to focus on the theme of friendship. For those who have experienced isolation from others at school or started at a new school, making friends is a challenge. The feeling of isolation can have devastating effects on emotional development on students.

The Ambassadors are working on finding activities to use in each school to raise awareness and foster positive peer relationships. This October, the ambassadors will be working with each school on awareness activities to help get their message out about being supportive peers. Activities include reading to Primary students, working with the High School drama department on creating skits to be shown to the Intermediate students, the Middle School will be working on team building activities to help enrich the relationships between students.

If you or your child struggles with bullying, please reach out to your school counselors, assistant principals and principals.
