The response to Postmaster Stanley Buttrey’s “write a serviceman this Christmas” was a tremendous success. The 27 Pea Ridge area men serving their country in the military all received cards and letters from friends and civic clubs of the area.
The business establishments of Pea Ridge are using Christmas greeting advertisements in this issue of the Graphic in order to express their holiday sentiments to most of their customers.

Churches are traditionally the center of activity at Christmas time, the holiest of all holidays for Christians everywhere. Many area churches had special services this past Sunday.
Charges of burglary and theft of property have been filed in connection with three separate break-ins against William R. Manning, 23, of Bella Vista, accused of burglarizing Phillips Food Center in Pea Ridge on two occasions and with breaking into the Burger Barn in Bella Vista.
The Pea Ridge High School boys’ team overpowered Farmington Friday night for a 69-60 Ozark Conference victory and a 5-3 season mark as they break for the holidays.

Pea Ridge City Council members unanimously adopted a budget of $582,131 for 1987, including an across the board raise of 5 percent for all city employees. An- nual Christmas bonuses were approved for city employees giving $50 for fulltime employees and $25 for part-time employees.
Rehearsal for the Christmas pageant found Pea Ridge School children absorbed in the whole process, though some found waiting their turn a little tedious. Russell Davidson, principal, was to read the Christmas story from St. Luke. The program will begin with a band concert led by Dale Foster. Jane Cooley will play the piano for the adult choirs participating.

The Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance will begin distributing some 2,500 pounds of food donated to it during the last couple of weeks. The food was collected by Boy and Girls Scouts and rural postal carriers. The Rev. Anthony Baker, pastor of the Pea Ridge Church of the Nazarene, said food has been sorted and boxed and will be delivered Dec. 21.
The Pea Ridge golf Tournament Association raised $812.50 profit from the Sept. 21 tournament at Elk River Country Club in Noel, Mo.

The Pea Ridge City Council met with Mayor Jackie Crabtree speaking about bond options for the widening of Weston Street.
Anticipation for weeks the building has appear to be finished, the sign has announced a coming opening and the landscaping has taken shape. Now, the opening of the new Subway restaurant appears to be a reality. Owner Aaron Hollinger plans to open Thursday, Dec. 28.
Demolition began at noon and by sunset, the main walls of the Arvest Bank, Pea Ridge, were a pile of rubble.
Student population growth has affected the bus routes as well as classroom needs, according to Pea Ridge Schools superintendent Mike Van Dyke.
