Laurel Jean Koff

Laurel Jean Koff, 85, of Woodruff, Wisc., died Dec. 11, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 3, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisc.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1950. She worked as a secretary for the president/ vice president at Wisco 99. She married Gerald (Jerry) Maechtle in October 1950 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Milwaukee. They had three children: James, Linda and David. In 1956 they moved to Sussex where they lived in a 100-year-old house on a beautiful garden lot. Jerry passed away in May of 1960. In 1961 Laurel married Harold (Harry) Teeselink at the Methodist Church in Sussex. Harry adopted Jim, Linda and Dave. Harry and Laurel had two children — Mark and Wendy.

Following Laurel’s childhood dream, they purchased a Supper Club/Resort on Squirrel Lake in Minocqua in 1973 and named it Laurel and Hardies. After they sold the Supper Club in 1985, Laurel worked several jobs, with her last one at Howard Young Hospital in the dietary department. In 2002 Harry and Laurel moved to One Penny Place. Harry passed away in August of 2005.

Laurel had many hobbies including knitting, playing cards and painting. She made many beautiful paintings of birds, flowers, and outdoor scenes. Laurel loved visiting her family scattered throughout the country and state. She especially enjoyed her weekly visits with grandchild­ren, Chase and Cierra. She loved living in northern Wisconsin including taking a road trip every year to see the fall colors. In July of 2009, Laurel met Bill Koff at One Penny Place. They knew this was God’s plan as they enjoyed doing so many of the same things. They were married on Valentine’s Day 2010 at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Minocqua.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her beloved husband, William Koff; children, James (Mary Lou) Teeselink of Garfield, Ark., Linda (Mark) Safian, David (Michelle) Teeselink, Mark (friend Kris) Teeselink and Wendy (Michael) Hayman; grandchild­ren, Jason Safian, Liana Safian (Thomas Wasieleski), Janelle Safian (fiancé Jacob McDonald), Travis Teeselink (Sydney Jones), Michaela Teeselink, Pierce Teeselink, Chase Hayman, Cierra Hayman, Victoria Teeselink, Alexa Teeselink and Tina (Kevin) Thomas; great-grandchild­ren, Simone Safian and Ryder Teeselink; as well as half-sisters, brothers, and cousins.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, Hwy. 70 West, Minocqua.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ministry Home Hospice Woodruff, or Rock of Ages Memorial Fund.
