With sun on the radar and spring definitely in the air, Pea Ridge Farmers Market coordinator Carol Roper is pleased to have professional vendors who offer quality products.

One of those vendors — J.D. Hudson Farms — offers quality meats and more. Hudson raises hogs and poultry on his farm, while his partner raises beef.

Hudson raises a variety of animals, including 60 hogs, 150 hens, 30 adult turkeys, roosters, geese and guinea hens.

In June, Hudson will sell turkey and gosling babies, as well as turkeys for Thanksgiving. All the turkeys are heritage breeds.

Hudson also grows peach, apple, plum and pecan trees.

The vendor’s name is fairly well known in the area, and Roper is happy to have him on board.

Hudson has been a member of the Pea Ridge Farmers Market for about four years and also is a vendor at the Rogers Farmers Market. Roper said she can depend on Hudson through thick and thin, even through challenges to grow the Farmers Market.

“I depend on him because there have been times when it was just him and me,” she said. “I call him my board member and we discuss this market on every decision.”

The Pea Ridge Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday at 197 Slack St., north of the Fire Station.
