Produce bountiful at market
Pea Ridge Farmers Market customers are loyal and vendors are appreciative of the great business they’re seeing on Thursdays and Sundays.
Farmers Market organizer Carol Roper said she’s delighted
at how well the customers have been supporting the market.
The market’s vendors continue to offer a good variety of produce, fruits and more. There’s an interesting mix of items offered and something for everyone’s taste buds, with all kinds of fruits and veggies in full harvest.
And new vendors are continuing to sign up as well. Roper hopes to bring on board a soap vendor, who will sell specially made soaps.
Fresh corn and tomatoes are featured items, as well as peaches, which should last another six weeks or so. Ripe blackberries likely will last through this week, Roper said.
In coming weeks, Dennis McGarrah will begin selling his famous tomatoes and corn. He has several varieties of tomatoes, including Cherokee Purple and Brandywine. His corn will include “Peaches and Cream.”
Also popular this time of year is a nice selection of grilling meats from J.D. Hudson. The veggies at the market are perfect for grilling or for shish kabobs. Customers can take advantage of Roper’s specially created raspberry jalapeno to use as a glaze for grilling.
With bountiful summer produce, zucchini boats are good for a quick, healthy and delicious dinner. Almost all the items can be found at the Pea Ridge Farmers Market, Roper said.
