Vanzant peaches keep customers coming back
Available at Pea Ridge market
The Vanzant peaches at the Pea Ridge Farmers Market keep people coming back, week after week.
In fact, Pea Ridge Farmers Market organizer Carol Roper said the peaches, which are full of flavor and very juicy, draw folks back again and again for their sweet scent and taste.
“I am selling July Prince peaches, which are cling-free peaches,” Roper said. “They taste wonderful and are very juicy. In fact, all the peaches I’ve sold are flavorful and very juicy,” she said, “The ‘run down to your elbow kind.’”
Frequent customers say the peaches make a great peach cobbler. Others eat them just by themselves.
Peaches are picked before they are fully ripe because Vanzant owners want to reduce bruises and make sure they are at their
peak soon after purchase, she said.
The sweet fragrance may be difficult to resist, but Roper asks customers to refrain from touching the peaches before purchase to reduce bruising and the spread of germs.
The peaches are selling very well at Pea Ridge Farmers Market, Roper said. “Everybody around here knows about the quality of Vanzant peaches.”
Customers are enjoying the July Prince peaches, which are now available. In coming weeks, Roper will feature White peaches, for which everyone seems to be waiting.
“I’m just enjoying them as they come.”
The Pea Ridge Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at 197 Slack St. For information, visit the Pea Ridge Farmers Market or Heritage Gardens on Facebook.
