Fred Calvin, a retired theater press representative who lives in Pea Ridge, will again direct the class play for the Pea Ridge junior class. The play, “The Boy Friend,” a three-act comedy, was selected by the class at the first meeting. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York, Calvin has had experience as an actor and as a press representative. His last 15 years before retirement were spent in that field for RKO and United Artists. He has directed the junior and senior plays here the past three years.

Jerry Clanton, a 1967 graduate of Pea Ridge High School, completed his course at the National Railroad Institute in Atlanta, Ga., and left Monday for Chicago to begin his new job with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. He was taken to Joplin, Mo., by his parents and went from there by plane.

Meet our faculty — Charles Phillips, sponsor of the freshman class, was born at Hartman in 1923. He went to school at Bentonville and graduated from the University of Arkansas. He taught for the first time in 1958 at Pea Ridge School, teaching seven years before moving to Vaughn, N.M., where he taught science for two terms. This year is his eighth year here and he is teaching industrial arts, eighth grade science, and seventh grade reading and spelling. His hobby is mechanic work. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, who live in Pea Ridge, have five children.
